Chapter One

Joel’s still coughing though I just watched him die. The vision quits me in a rush. I snatch for details, hints, but they slip through my fingers and are gone. I’m only reaching off the roof at the pale sunrise. His lungs keep backfiring in the loft below. Still alive, for now.
